PDCA Solutions is proud to announce the 2nd women in quality conference & awards in celebration of national women’s day. The conference gave recognition to the contribution of women in the quality profession who made changes in organizations, communities and society at large, through her efforts and commitment towards Quality. Which provided a platform for women in the quality profession, to share their experiences, best practices, tested solutions, and proven results and knowledge with other women. It provided a networking opportunity for women in the quality profession. The inaugural conference featured a lineup of outstanding Women in Quality, representing various sectors ranging from Business, manufacturing, services, education, certification, education, retails and many others.

 

2015 has seen a number of changes to global and international standards, be the first to hear what changes are taking place. Highlights of this year’s conference will include workshops on the changes to

• ISO 9001:2015 –Quality Management Systems
• ISO 14001:2015 – Environmental Management Systems
• BRC Global Standard for Food Issue 7
• BRC/IOP Global Standard for Packaging Issue 5
Master class on Risk Management Systems and many more exciting topics including Food Fraud, GFSI Global Markets programme, ethical auditing, and Wellness & Travel safety.
The PDCA Outstanding Individual Achievement Award recognizes a woman in the quality profession for outstanding achievement, demonstrated leadership, and a lasting commitment to promoting quality and making a change in her organisation. Candidates for this award must be nominated by a third party. The Awards Program is open to women in both public and private entities. Entries are limited to efforts related to quality in South Africa Nominees must accept nomination as judging entails an interview with finalists. Winners & Finalist will be announced at the Women in Quality Conference on 7 August 2015. Winner will be awarded the PDCA trophy for Outstanding Individual Achievement in Quality.

Keynote address by Honourable Minister of Science and Technology. Mrs GNM Pandor, MP 

Naledi Pandor
Naledi Pandor is South Africa’s Minister of Science and Technology. A life of exile from 1961 until 1984 resulted in an international flavour to her education. She holds a BA from the University of Botswana and Swaziland and an MA in Education from the University of London. In 1992 she studied for a Diploma in Higher Education, Administration and Leadership at Bryn Mawr in the USA. In 1997 she completed an MA in Linguistics at the University of Stellenbosch and a Diploma in Leadership in Development at the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard, while she was serving as an MP. She became an MP in 1994 and has amassed impressive experience in positions of public office, including deputy chief whip of the ANC in the National Assembly from 1995 to 1998, deputy chairperson of the National Council of Provinces in 1998, and its Chairperson from 1999-2004. Her experience in education policy planning made her a welcome appointment as South Africa’s Minister of Education from 2004-2009. She was appointed Minister of Science and Technology in May 2009, and Minister of Home Affairs in October 2012. She was again appointed as Minister of Science and Technology in May 2014 following the 5th democratic elections in South Africa. The Cape Peninsula University of Technology and Stellenbosch University have awarded her honorary doctorates.
